Placing the batteries below the bed not only makes the bed functional, it lowers the center of gravity of the vehicle. At this point in the build, the battery boxes are not installed but will reside on both sides of the rear end and one box at the rear.

I have install gas springs to assist in the lift of the whole bed. They are not shown here but are 28” extended at about 90 pounds lift each. A catch release near the front of the bed releases and enables the bed to be tilted vertical.
